Regain back your youth and achieve your dreams – Conversations with Grandmaster Jimmy Heow
The casual conversation with Sifu turned out to be an insightful discovery – not just Kungfu, but about our human body and our lives. A young person is just as old if he or she does not have dreams. However, an elderly gentleman could feel young again if he pursue his dreams, even well into his 60s or 70s.
Sifu kept refreshing my memories on how important it is to keep training.
“The older you get, the more you need to train”
Sifu is in his late 60s but he moves better than a 30 year old chap. The reply that I got from him through my curious questions point to the importance of having to train your body the correct way. As we grow older, our muscles, our ligaments and tendons turns harder and stiffer – and we physically shrink! Normally, the legs will start to deteriorate first…
Using a set of I Liq Chuan exercise, Sifu showed me my weaknesses and guided me on how to train and improve accordingly. So far, this has produced great results in terms of my biomechanics and daily movements – especially for someone like me who spends a lot of time sitting in front of the computer.
Think again…we train to improve our kungfu. Actually we train to improve our lives.
